Adult dead after car strikes pole on South I-35, 3 others hospitalized

Police said the vehicle also caught fire after the collision on South I-35 northbound.

AUSTIN, Texas — One person is dead after a vehicle struck a pole on the 6700 block of S. Interstate 35 northbound on Monday evening.

Austin-Travis County EMS said the crash took place just before 6 p.m. First responders on scene reported that only one vehicle, which caught fire, was involved.

An adult was pronounced deceased on scene. Meanwhile, two children were taken to Dell Children's Medical Center with serious injuries. One teenager was also transported.

The adult was identified on April 12 as Ashley Ramirez, 33.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with more information is asked to call police at 512-974-8111.
