Multiple people injured after CapMetro Access van rollover in South Austin

The exact circumstances of the crash remain unclear, but Austin-Travis County EMS said a vehicle T-boned the CapMetro van.

AUSTIN, Texas — A CapMetro Access van rollover is causing traffic delays in South Austin Wednesday morning.

CapMetro said at approximately 10:20 a.m., the van was involved in a crash near South First Street and West William Cannon Drive. At around 10:30 a.m., the Austin Fire Department (AFD) said firefighters were on the scene and working to remove passengers who were inside the rolled over van.

By 10:40 a.m., AFD said all the passengers had been removed. While the exact circumstances of the collision are unclear, Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS) confirmed the incident involved three vehicles – including the CapMetro van – and that one of the vehicles T-boned the van.

Four people were injured, including two CapMetro employees, and three total people were taken to a hospital. At least one of those patients sustained serious injuries, but the condition of the others is unknown at this time.

CapMetro said it is coordinating with AFD, ATCEMS and the Austin Police Department and that the investigation is ongoing.

Crews are working to tow away the CapMetro van, and drivers should continue to expect delays in the area until the roadway is cleared.
