4 vehicles involved in crash on I-35 near Slaughter Lane

AUSTIN, Texas — A major crash is causing disruptions on South Interstate 35, near Slaughter Lane, Tuesday afternoon.

The Austin Fire Department (AFD) said at 12:30 p.m. that it had crews on the scene of a crash in the 8700 block of South I-35, near the H-E-B and Home Depot in that area.

AFD initially said the crash involved multiple vehicles, including an 18-wheeler that had rolled over. Vehicles were on both sides of the interstate, and one was on fire.

In an update around 12:40 p.m., AFD said crews were reporting that four vehicles were involved in the crash and that two patients would require medical attention. At 1:20 p.m., Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS) said one adult patient had been taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries while another was evaluated and treated at the scene but refused transport.

Drivers should expect major traffic delays in the area.
