Chances are good that you drive through at least one of the most dangerous intersections in Texas, because a handful of them are right here in Austin.
Brian White, a personal injury attorney from Houston, took a comprehensive look at the most dangerous intersections in the state based on the Texas Department of Transportation's collision data. The study only includes intersections where 48 or more collisions occurred within four years. Go here to read the study.
Four of the 279 dangerous intersections are in Austin.
The worst intersection in Austin, according to the study, is at East Riverside and South Pleasant Valley Road where 68 crashes, 53 injuries and no deaths have been reported between 2012 and 2015.
The second worst intersection in Austin is at Lamar Boulevard and Parmer Lane where there have been 56 crashes, 45 injuries and one death reported.
Number three is the Butler Road and Lamar Boulevard intersection. There have been 69 crashes with 45 injuries and no deaths reported at this intersection.
Coming in fourth is Riverside and Willow Creek Drive where there have been 51 crashes, 38 injuries and no deaths reported.
Austin City Council voted 11-0 to pass an ordinance calling for a $720 million transportation bond which the public will vote on in November. The bond would allow the city to add bike lanes, wider sidewalks and medians, among other things.
