Police investigating deadly stabbing on North I-35 near Capital Plaza shopping center; some lanes closed

One person is dead, and a suspect has been taken into custody.

AUSTIN, Texas — Lanes of the North Interstate 35 northbound service road are closed near the Capital Plaza shopping center as police investigate a deadly stabbing.

The Austin Police Department (APD) said at approximately 10:18 a.m., officers responded to reports of a stabbing in the area, just south of the U.S. 290 split. When officers arrived on the scene, they found an adult with stab wounds. Austin-Travis County EMS medics took the victim to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:48 a.m.

APD said a suspect was detained and taken into custody.

No additional information is available at this time, but lanes of the service road remain closed and drivers should anticipate delays.
