WYLDWOOD, Texas — A Bastrop ISD school bus was involved in a crash Friday morning, the district confirmed to KVUE.
The district said at approximately 7 a.m., a bus was "involved in an accident" at State Highway 71 and Blue Flame Road in Wyldewood, Texas. Students were on the bus at the time, but the district said no serious injuries have been reported.
Out of an abundance of caution, some students were taken to a hospital, but most students were safely taken to their school after they were evaluated by medics. Once at their campus, those students were reunited with their families.
Bastrop ISD said the campus principal and district staff were at the scene and the hospital to support students and their families and "will continue to provide assistance when students return to school."
The crash is under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety, as is protocol, and both Bastrop ISD and its transportation provider, GoldStar Transit, are cooperating with the investigation.
