AUSTIN, Texas — Commuters taking State Highway 130 near FM 973 are being been met with delays Wednesday morning after a crash involving an 18-wheeler and another vehicle.
Just after 6 a.m. Wednesday, the Travis County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) said that traffic was being diverted on North SH 130 at FM 973 because of a rollover collision involving an 18-wheeler. Drivers were told to expect delays.
At around 7:20 a.m., Travis County Emergency Services District 12 (ESD 12) said that crews were on the scene of a crash involving an 18-wheeler and another vehicle on SH 130 and FM 973.
ESD 12 said that fire crews had cleared from the scene, but drivers should continue to expect possible road closures for debris cleanup.
At around 7:50 a.m., the Texas Department of Transportation said that all lanes of northbound SH 130 at FM 973 are closed. Traffic is diverting at the FM 973 exit.
Just after 8 a.m., TCSO said that significant delays will last at least two more hours as crews clear the truck's load of rebar from the road.
TCSO also said that the driver of the 18-wheeler was transported from the scene via STAR Flight.
Shortly after, Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS) provided more information about the collision, stating that medics had responded to a crash between a semi-truck and an SUV. Both vehicles were rolled over, and a patient was pinned inside their vehicle for an extended period of time.
ATCEMS said that the pinned patient was extricated after approximately 50 minutes.
Medics transported one adult patient to Dell Seton Medical Center with potentially serious but non-life-threatening injuries. STAR Flight transported an adult patient with serious but not expected to be life-threatening injuries.
