Man killed, child injured in crash near Highway 183 in Williamson County

A car traveling on the wrong side of FM 3405 collided with a truck Thursday morning, according to Texas DPS officials.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas — A man is dead following a two-vehicle crash on FM 3405, near the intersection of U.S. 183 in Williamson County Thursday morning. 

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), troopers were notified of the crash at approximately 11:43 a.m. Thursday. The crash completely shut down FM 3405 while troopers responded.

Texas DPS said a 2019 Hyundai Sonata was heading eastbound on FM 3405 on the wrong side of the road, while a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling westbound. The vehicles collided head-on.

It is unknown at this time why the Hyundai was driving on the wrong side of the road.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 45-year-old man from Georgetown, was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin has not yet been notified.

The driver of the Silverado, a 39-year-old woman from Georgetown, was not injured. However, one of the three children who were passengers in the truck was injured and transported to Seton Hospital.

This crash is still under investigation, but the roadway has been reopened.
