Southbound I-35 traffic still diverted after multi-vehicle crash causes car fire

One adult sustained minor injuries.

AUSTIN, Texas — Traffic is detoured on Interstate 35 due to a multi-vehicle crash that resulted in a fire.

The Texas Department of Transportation tweeted around 11:15 a.m. Saturday that I-35 was closed in both directions at Cesar Chavez Street due to a crash and vehicle fire. 

Traffic has been detoured to the frontage road.

The Austin Fire Department said the accident happened at 600 North I-35 southbound and involved four vehicles and 10 adults. 

Austin-Travis County EMS transported one adult with minor injuries. Two vehicles were burned.

Southbound traffic was still diverted as of noon.
