LULING, Texas — Crews in Luling, Texas, were cleaning up the scene of a crash after an 18-wheeler was struck by a train Thursday.
The Luling Police Department (LPD) said just after 11 a.m. on Thursday that the semi-truck was struck by the train at the Elm Avenue crossing. Police said the crossing would be closed for an extended period of time while the crash was being investigated and cleared up.
LPD had requested that train traffic be stopped at 10:50 a.m. due to the semitrailer truck being stuck on the tracks. The train was unable to be stopped in time and collided with the truck, according to a spokesperson with Union Pacific.
The driver of the truck was able to safely exit the vehicle before the collision. Neither the driver of the truck nor the train crew were injured from the collision.
The incident is currently under investigation.
