AUSTIN, Texas — New parking rules will soon be enforced around Austin High School.

The city is coordinating with Austin ISD on the change to ease parking challenges for students at the school.

That means when students return from winter break on Jan. 6, 2025, Austin ISD police will be on-site enforcing the new rules. Signs have already been posted in the area to alert drivers of the upcoming changes.

Public parking will still be available on Stephen F. Austin Drive before 6 a.m. and after 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. However, during those hours, parking will be reserved for Austin High School students only.

Parking will also still be available to the public all day on weekends and during Austin ISD breaks. The option to park under MoPac or along Veterans Drive will stay available as well.

Officials said there may be more changes coming in the future to parking hours and days.
