Rocks falling from bridge on North Lamar near 3rd Street

Rocks are falling from the bridge and into the road when a train passes by.

AUSTIN, Texas — Rocks falling from a bridge overhead near the intersection of North Lamar Boulevard and 3rd Street are causing traffic issues.

The rocks are falling from the bridge and into the roadway when a train passes on the bridge. Police officers at the scene are stopping traffic in the northbound lane of North Lamar when a train passes by.

Union Pacific Railroad, the company that owns to bridge, said it has been notified of the issue. The company said it sent bridge personnel to inspect the bridge on Thursday night. The bridge was found to be structurally sound and train traffic was allowed to resume.
