1 person killed, 4 others injured in multi-vehicle crash on West US 290

All of the people taken to the hospital have potentially serious injuries.

AUSTIN, Texas — One person is dead and four others were taken to local hospitals after a multi-vehicle crash on West US 290 on Monday afternoon.

Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS) said just before 3 p.m., medics and crews from the Austin and Oak Hill fire departments were on the scene of a three-vehicle collision with five people involved on West US 290. At the time, one person was reported unconscious.

About 15 minutes later, ATCEMS said medics had declared one of the people, an adult, dead at the scene. Travis County STAR Flight had transported a different adult to Dell Seton Medical Center with potentially serious injuries.

Shortly after, ATCEMS said STAR Flight was transporting a second adult to St. David's South Austin Medical Center with potentially serious injuries.

Two other adults were also transported – one to Dell Seton and one to St. David's, both with potentially serious injuries.

ATCEMS said drivers should expect delays in the area and should use alternate routes if possible.
