AUSTIN, Texas — Editor's note: An earlier version of this story included inaccurate information about the timeline for Concourse B. It has been updated to reflect new information provided by the airport.
Austin travelers, get ready for more updates at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
On Jan. 10, members of Austin's Airport Advisory Committee met to discuss plans for upcoming renovations, including a new parking garage, concourse and an expansion to the arrival/departure gates.
The airport is currently accepting bidding offers through Feb. 2 for the parking garage. Starting in March, the arrival/departure gates will be expanded to create easier access to this new area.
Additionally, a new Concourse B will be constructed along with a direct connector to the Barbara Jordan Terminal. The concourse will be built in a phased approach, with the first phase – 10 new gates – completed by 2030. This will bring the airport's total gate count to 43 by 2030.
"We're breaking up the building with kind of nodes," said Lyn Estabrook, the airport's deputy chief development officer. "There's that central node that will come up from the connector. There will be everything from restrooms and concessions to a mezzanine with a club."
While the first phase of Concourse B is expected to be completed by 2030, there is not a projected completion date for other projects that will be under construction beyond that year.
