Austin flyers can soon fly to Cleveland nonstop

Frontier Airlines recently announced its newest nonstop destination out of the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

AUSTIN, Texas — Looking to beat the Texas heat and take a trip up north?

Starting May 16, Frontier Airlines is offering 10 new direct flights from the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to Cleveland.

The airline made the announcement Feb. 14 on Twitter:

This is the first airline out of ABIA to fly nonstop to Cleveland, stating it made the decision based on recent "soaring" growth in the major city, according to Frontier Airlines CEO Barry Biffle.

Once introduced in spring, the nonstop journey to Cleveland should take place three times a day.

Now through Feb. 16, flyers also have the chance to purchase tickets priced at a promotional fee starting at $19, not including flights between May 24-27.

Six years ago, Frontier added several direct flights out of AIBA with destinations including Milwaukee, Omaha and Providence, among others across the U.S.
