AUSTIN, Texas — Phonebooths are starting to make a comeback and are now available at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. They aren't the traditional booths where you pop in some change to make a call on a telephone, but rather high-tech private pods.
They're called Jabbrrboxes and are private workspaces made for traveling workers, students and those just wanting a bit of personal space while at the airport.
Instead of just featuring a phone to make calls, these work booths come equipped with Wi-Fi, LED lighting, power outlets and USB charging, according to the company website. Some units are also outfitted for screen sharing, video calls and Bluetooth connectivity.
ABIA has six Jabbrrboxes available in the Barbara Jordan Terminal, and their precise locations can be found using the airport's digital map. Reservations are made using the Jabbrrbox app or on-demand at the kiosk.
Prices vary by location and time of day and can be found on the app.
