AUSTIN, Texas — The first semi-private flight on JSX landed at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) on Monday. The new hop-on jet service offers flights from Austin to Dallas Love Field Airport twice a day.
JSX departs from the Signature private terminal at AUS, and the 30-seat plane doesn't have overhead bins, which speeds up the boarding process. The company also promises fast and easy check-in and security.
"The whole point of flying is to get somewhere faster, right? And so, our whole offering is that you can show up 20 minutes before the flight, get on, check-in and go without breaking a sweat," JSX CEO Alex Wilcox said. "There's no huge terminal to walk through. There's no massive car parking garage. There's no lines to fight through. We do have security, but we do it ourselves. It's all TSA-approved, but we do it very, very rapidly."
JSX's choice to expand in Austin is just another example of the booming growth in Central Texas.
"Austin's, obviously, [a] boomtown right now. Tons of people that used to live in California, like myself, are moving here to Texas and Austin in particular. And we wanted to provide a new service to a place that's actually been very well-served by air, but not as convenient as we could do now," Wilcox said.
"There's been so much growth in the passenger terminal here with all the major airlines dumping in so much capacity, it's actually gotten less convenient to fly in and out of Austin Bergstrom, the main terminal," Wilcox added. "And so, we want to provide some relief for people that value their time."

You also don't have to be rich to ride on a JSX plane. Fares for the Austin-to-Dallas flights start at $129 each way.
JSX first launched back in 2016 and is based in Dallas. And while this new service is the company's first flight out of Austin, Wilcox said more flights to Dallas or other destinations could be added in the months to come.
