AUSTIN, Texas — Spirit Airlines announced Wednesday two new daily nonstop flights from Monterrey, Mexico, to Austin and Houston.
The flights connecting the two Texas cities to Monterrey will start on June 22, the airline said in a press release. Spirit said the Austin flight will be the only nonstop flight between the two cities.
“We’re excited about growing our international service from Texas with new daily nonservice from Austin (AUS) and Houston (IAH) to Monterrey, Mexico," said John Kirby, Spirit Airline’s vice president of network planning. “Whether traveling for leisure or to visit friends and relatives, Spirit Airlines continues to provide our Guests with More Go.”
The announcement from Spirit is the latest of several new flights coming to Austin's airport. Last month, Air Canada announced a new nonstop service between Austin and Vancouver; American Airlines announced two seasonal services from Austin to Santa Ana, California, and Bozeman, Montana; and Lufthansa announced it will resume flights between Austin and Frankfurt this spring.
