Did you wake up feeling stuffy Monday morning? Cedar could be to blame!
Monday morning's allergy count revealed a spike in the pesky allergen which usually plagues Central Texas this time of year. In fact, cedar levels are the highest level of the season so far with a reading of 99 gr/m3 as of early Monday morning. A secondary allergy count conducted around midday Monday showed cedar spiked even higher to 1,075 gr/m3. The "high" category starts at 91 gr/m3.
Unfortunately, there isn't any relief in Tuesday's allergy count where we found cedar levels have surged to a new season high of 1,111 gr/m3. Don't forget your allergy medication!
Historically, cedar season peaks in late December to early January and slowly tapers off throughout the winter months.
The KVUE Weather Team will be keeping a close eye on the forecast for any rain which would help to lower cedar levels. Fortunately, rain chances will be on the rise throughout the workweek and upcoming holiday weekend.
Isolated rain chances begin on Wednesday, but our best rain chances of the week will arrive on Thursday and Friday. Ahead of the rain, expect cedar levels to either be in the "medium" or "high" category.
