AUSTIN, Texas — Gotta love T-shirt weather on Christmas! Santa will have no issues with his flight tonight across the Lone Star State as we gear up for a very warm Christmas Day.
A southerly breeze continues to increase the humidity here in Central Texas, so another round of low clouds and some patchy fog will develop late tonight into Christmas morning. After a grey start, clouds will break up through the late morning and early afternoon, giving way to a sunny and very warm afternoon.
We're forecasting a high of 83 degrees Saturday afternoon for the Austin area, which would make this year the second-warmest Christmas on record behind only 1955. It will be even hotter across the Hill Country as a dry-line brings in lower humidity and highs approach 90 degrees.
Even after Christmas, we're still looking at warm and mainly dry weather through the rest of December as high pressure build in from Mexico. A weak front around the middle of next week could moderate our temperatures a bit, but we're still looking at highs in the upper 70s to low 80s through New Year's Eve.
The KVUE Weather Team will continue to closely monitor this developing forecast.
