AUSTIN, Texas — A cold front on Tuesday didn't put up much of a fight against the Texas heat.
As of Wednesday, Austin settled into its 40th day of consecutive triple-digit heat.
The "heat dome" causing the steamy weather is not expected to die down in the foreseeable future.
However, if the atmosphere can play along, there is some increasing potential for some wetter and, yes, cooler weather in the next week or so.
Below, you'll note our "heat dome," which will slide north over the Midwest early next week, letting a wave of moisture slide underneath into the Gulf of Mexico from the Atlantic.
Whether this moisture will be able to move over Central Texas is still up for grabs, but it's something the KVUE Storm Team is watching.
If rain does wash over us, Austin is still under high confidence in above-average temperatures over the next six to 10 days, so it might not make too big of a dent in overall heat relief.
