Warming trend this week; near-record warmth possible Tuesday and Wednesday

We could be looking ahead to record-breaking temperatures by the middle of next week.

AUSTIN, Texas — We'll see more highs in the 80s as we continue the work week with even warmer temperatures and zero rain chances. High bump into the mid and upper 80s for Tuesday and Wendesday.

Winds will continue gusting to 25 mph for this afternoon and stay breezy through the end of the week. While that would usually result in heightened fire weather concerns, the recently saturated ground, combined with the moisture present, will limit that fire risk.

Near-record warmth will be possible for Austin today and tomorrow as record daily highs are around 88 degrees, and the forecast is in the mid to upper 80s.

However, we are tracking our next cold front around next Thursday. It'll originate with an area of low pressure in the Pacific Northwest that'll make a track across the Rockies and into Central Texas by next Thursday, where highs ahead of it will again be around 80. But behind the front, we could barely reach the 60s in some spots.

Additionally, we are looking preliminarily at a 60% storm chance for Thursday and 60% for Friday as the overrunning pattern takes place.
