Additional storms overnight likely stay below severe limits.

AUSTIN, Texas — The primary severe weather threat for tonight has ended for Central Texas. The Severe Thunderstorm Watch that was in effect for Friday evening was allowed to expire at midnight.

Although the main severe risk ahs ended, there will still be a few more scattered showers and storms overnight. A few of these could become strong with small hail and breezy winds, but the odds of severe weather look much lower than with our first round of storms.

So don't be surprised if you hear a little more heavy rain or thunder overnight as the last batch of scattered storms passes through from west to east.

All of the storms will be done by 5 a.m. Saturday morning or earlier. The rest of Saturday will be completely dry, with a partly cloudy sky turning mostly sunny by the afternoon. High temperatures will be in the 70s.

There won't be any more storms on Sunday, but it will become very windy. We're talking wind gusts as high as 40 miles per hour out of the northwest. Otherwise, the forecast for most of next week looks pretty quiet.
