AUSTIN, Texas — Following the strong cold front that pushed through Central Texas on Monday, very windy weather has developed area-wide. Parts of the Hill Country were gusting over 50 miles per hour Monday evening, and these widespread 40 to 50 mph winds will continue overnight. Isolated spots could gust as high as 55 mph.
A Wind Advisory is in effect for the entire KVUE area through noon Tuesday. Hopefully anything that can be blown away in the yard has already been secured. We also can't rule out some isolated power outages, so it's a good idea just to make sure all of your important devices are charged.
Late Monday night, high winds are expected to become more concentrated across the metro. Make sure leftover Christmas decorations, outdoor furniture and things in the yard are secured when you get home from work or when you head to bed.
The winds will stay high through Tuesday morning, expecting to gust from 20 mph to 30 mph still. Our Wind Advisory ends Tuesday at 12 p.m.
