AUSTIN – Cedar season is right around the corner, and the projection for this year's season could be a mixed bag.
"It's horrible during cedar, I actually give [my children] a lot of albuterol treatment where they have to put their mask on," said Sun Lim who has children with allergies.
Trace amounts of cedar pollen start showing up in December, with a quick spike in early January.
Although rain in the fall promotes pollen, heavy rain during cedar season will help to reduce the number of days with cedar in the "High" category.
"What you want people to do right now, is go to the store and buy your antihistamines, your nose sprays, your eye drops, and start those pretty soon," said allergist Dr. Allen Leiberman.
With a strong El Niño on tap for the winter, Central Texas can expect more rain events through the winter.
