Friday's rainfall results are in: We still need more

Despite Friday's rainfall, the future still doesn't look too bright regarding rain and low temperatures.

AUSTIN -- Now, our drought monitor update is in from last Friday's rainfall. Camp Mabry and Austin-Bergstrom recorded between 3 to 5 inches of rainfall and with the Climate Prediction Center's future outlook for the next 8 to 14 days, neither rainfall nor temperatures look bright.

Texas received modest improvements across parts in the central, southern, and western areas. In the drought stricken Panhandle region, it remains contentious. Even one year ago, the drought conditions weren't quite as numbered.

For the next two weeks, the Climate Prediction Center maintains that we are expecting below average rainfall rates in not only Arizona and New Mexico, but also Texas. From the Northern Rockies, to the northern Plains states, through the Midwest, and down through the Florida Keys, above average rainfall is in the forecast.

As for temperatures, they are likely to continue soaring above average from the eastern Rockies, along the Mississippi and Ohio valleys, with a long stretch from New England down through the southeast.
