AUSTIN, Texas — Central Texas has finally seen its first triple-digit day of 2024.
We're tracking some serious heat in Central Texas, with Thursday's high finally reaching the triple digits at Camp Mabry for the first time this year, hitting a high of 100 degrees.
Not only that, but we're tracking more of that triple-digit heat as we head through the weekend and early next week. Highs Friday through Sunday could get to the upper 90s, but triple digits are also possible. As we head through early next week, triple digits return for forecast highs, with 101 and 102 forecast for Monday and Tuesday.
The silver lining to this is that there is lesser humidity in the atmosphere as a result of Saharan dust coming in from northern Africa. It's possible that we may not have any heat alerts as a result.
With the triple digits officially here, it is very important to drink plenty of water, even before the peak daytime heating and limit strenuous outdoor activities.
