AUSTIN, Texas — The first strong cold front of the season has cleared through Central Texas, and we're now looking ahead to our coldest morning temperatures since April. April 9 was the last time Camp Mabry in Austin dropped into the 40s.
We're expecting widespread low to mid-40s, including in town for Austin. The current forecast calls for a morning low in Austin of 44 degrees. A daily low temperature record was broken at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport Wednesday morning as the temperature dropped into the upper 30s at that location. The previous record was 42 degrees set back in 1975.
For the outlying suburbs and cooler spots in the Hill Country, temperatures dropped into the 30s!
This cooldown is fairly short-lived as both mornings and afternoons trend warmer for mid-week and the weekend. An early look ahead to another busy weekend shows highs in the upper 80s to possible lower 90s with breezy conditions and dry weather.
The KVUE Storm Team will continue to closely monitor this developing forecast.
