AUSTIN, Texas — It will be stormy Monday evening across Central Texas. A line of storms will develop along a cold front, and will sweep from west to east across our area. A few of these embedded storms could be severe with all modes of severe weather possible. Strong winds are the main concern, but there could also be some hail and an isolated tornado. In addition the the severe risk, there could also be some localized flooding. Storms will be moving into the Austin metro and I-35 corridor by 8 or 9 p.m. this evening.
We expect a widespread 0.5" to 1.5" of rainfall, but there could be localized spots that see as much as 2" to 4" of rain. We need the rain after a very dry month of October, but remember to never drive through any flooded roadways.
Rain will end overnight from west to east, and by Tuesday morning we're left with just a few lingering light showers. Cloud cover will clear to sunshine for the afternoon on Tuesday, so storms won't be an issue at all for Election Day. However, it will be much cooler with highs in the low to mid 70s.
