AUSTIN, Texas — For the first time in a long time we've had a widespread heavy rain for the Austin area Monday evening. Fortunately, we have not had major issues with severe weather, and the odds of hail, strong, winds, or a tornado will continue to decrease through the overnight. As the severe threat wanes, we still need to be on the look out for minor flooding through the night. Remember, turn around don't drown. Never drive through flooded roadways.
By Tuesday morning there could still be a few lingering showers, but any left over rain and cloud cover will quickly give way to sunshine for the late morning into the afternoon. Severe weather will not be an issue at all for Election Day, and we will enjoy some cooler weather in the wake of our storms with high temperatures Tuesday only in the low to mid 70s.
We get a clear and cool night for Tuesday night with temperatures dropping into the upper 40s and low 50s, but then rain chances return around Thursday and Friday.
