AUSTIN, Texas — *A Heat Advisory will be in effect for Bastrop, Caldwell, Fayette, Hays, Lee, Milam, Travis and Williamson counties from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday.*
It's official. Austin recorded it's first triple digit day of the summer on Thursday. The average first triple digit heat is around July 4th over the past 30 year, so this is slightly ahead of normal. However, it's actually the latest first triple digit heat for Austin since the summer of 2019.
Now that we've reached 100, we have more triple digits in the forecast for Friday afternoon in Austin. Otherwise, it will be mostly sunny with feels like temps in the 108 to 112 range.
There's very little change over the weekend with highs around 99 Saturday or Sunday. Lower triple digits will become a daily occurrence by the beginning of next week, and will continue into the 4th of July.
In addition to the heat, we have Saharan dust moving in by next Monday which could reduce air quality and bring a hazy sky.
