Dry weather this workweek; rain chances return Friday into Saturday

After a several-day wet weather pattern, our weather now turns dry through much of this week.

AUSTIN, Texas — We wrapped up a pleasant and dry weekend, and we're kicking off a pleasant start to the workweek. But as we head into the latter portions of this week, things may start to turn a bit in terms of rain chances. Here's the latest.

Warmer week this week

We're tracking not only sunnier conditions, but warmer conditions for most of next week. We'll be tracking a wind shift to a southerly flow for Monday, but winds the remainder of the week could be simply just light and variable in nature. Highs could top out at around 70 by the time we get to the middle of the week.

More rain possible this weekend

We've got another round of beneficial rain that could be on the way. However, the best chances don't look like they will be here until Saturday at the earliest. Friday may yield a few isolated to widely scattered showers, but those chances are only pegged at around 20% to 30%.

All told, these are early indications, but some areas not only east of Austin but north of the KVUE viewing area could get some healthy rainfall totals. This includes the Trinity Aquifer Recharge Zone, which, in turn, could help with Lake Travis's and Lake Buchanan's levels.

Rainfall totals area-wide could be between a half an inch to an inch in the Hill Country aside from the Trinity Aquifer Recharge Zone, but areas east of Austin and that recharge zone could get up to two additional inches or more.
