December 2021 ranked as the warmest December on record at the Camp Mabry climate site as the average monthly temperature of 65.1 degrees far exceeded the normal monthly average of 53.6 degrees.
January and February 2022 trended cooler with both monthly averages below the normal monthly average. January recorded on average roughly 2 degrees cooler than normal. Two separate ice events within the month of February kept monthly averages over 6 degrees cooler than average.
Meteorological spring runs from March 1 through the end of May.
