AUSTIN, Texas — We had somewhat of a dreary Friday afternoon after being dry for most of the past week, but we're tracking real changes for the start of next week.
Here's what we're tracking:
Weekend Rain Timing
Saturday's rain chances sit at around 30% while a 20% storm chance exists for Sunday.
Saturday's rainfall looks to be more isolated and widely scattered, especially earlier in the day. However, we could still see a bit of radiational fog and low cloud cover.
Saturday's highs will be in the lower 70s, while Sunday's highs will be in the mid-to-upper-70s. While the model below does show the possibility of 80s for Sunday afternoon, there's a bit of skepticism over this, as there'll be more cloud cover hanging around and still a few stray showers.
Rainfall Chances Next Week
After this weekend's rain chances, we're tracking better rain chances ahead of two separate frontal boundaries expected to slip through the KVUE area. The best chances will be on Monday (60%) and Wednesday (40%), which immediately precede both aforementioned frontal boundaries.
Total 7-Day Rain Forecast
With all of the rain chances for this weekend and early next week, we expect many areas east of I-35 to get maybe an inch or even an inch and a half. This is great news for those areas that have been in a severe drought in the Coastal Plains. As for the Hill Country, we're expecting around a half an inch up to an inch the closer you get to the Austin metro area.
