AUSTIN, Texas — Triple-digit heat rolls on for Central Texas through all of this week.
Monday was the 33rd day of triple-digit temperatures with a high temperature of 105. It was also the 17th straight day of triple-digit heat, which is good for a tie for the ninth longest such streak.
It has been a historic stretch of heat, and we still don't see much relief ahead. However, the one small glimmer of positivity is a very small rain chance for Tuesday and Wednesday.
Aside from the heat, it's been nearly completely dry through this month and drought conditions are rapidly worsening. This is keeping our fire weather concerns going for the next several days, with "moderate" to "very high" fire danger in the forecast.
Burn bans are now in effect for all of our KVUE area, so please be mindful and avoid any outdoor burning. Burn bans extend 90 days, and fines if caught burning outdoors can be up to $500.
Forecast models have hinted at the potential for a few storms to contain strong damaging wind if they were to develop.
The KVUE Weather Team will keep a close eye on this developing forecast.
