Multiple people trapped, cars caught underwater during Thursday's severe weather

ATCEMS reported at least nine rescue missions across Austin on Thursday night.

AUSTIN, Texas — ATCEMS reported that multiple vehicles were either stuck in or stranded by standing water near Research Boulevard and Duval Road during Thursday night's severe weather.

ATCEMS said that occupants of these vehicles were being extradited at around 8:30 p.m.., while flood waters moved slowly through the area, as well as more vehicles stuck in water on North I-35 Service Road and Balcones Club Road.

ATCEMS also reported that two people are trapped between a creek and a fence and are yelling for help near the 1300 block of N MoPac Boulevard. ATCEMS also reported that one of those rescued in that incident was transported to the hospital due to a non-life threatening injury received while exiting the water.

There were several additional reports of people stuck in water near the North I-35 Service Road, as well as in the 12000 block of Cameron Road in East Austin. The conditions of all these people is currently unclear.

Just before 10:30 Thursday night, ATCEMS reported finding a vehicle submerged in water with the driver sitting atop the car.

There were also a number of issues with standing water in Pflugerville, as well. Pflugerville police reported that barricades were put up in the 500 block of N Railroad Ave., Grand Ave & Edgemere Dr., Grand Ave & Idaho Falls, 1900 block of E Pecan St., Immanuel Rd. & Wells Branch Pkwy., and Schultz Ln. & A.W. Grimes Blvd., and N Railroad Ave. at Gilleland Creek Pool.
