AUSTIN, Texas — The severe weather threat has ended for Central Texas as a strong cold front brings in much colder weather. Friday morning will be quite breezy with wind gusts of 40-plus mph possible.
A Wind Advisory is in effect through noon on Friday.
We also wake up Friday morning to an entirely different air mass. Temperatures will be in the upper 30s and low 40s and will only reach the mid to upper 50s during the afternoon.
Temperatures stay chilly through Monday of next week, with afternoons in the 50s and mornings in the 30s and 40s. It's even possible that the coldest locations in the Hill Country could see a light freeze during the mornings.
This brings us to the next aspect of the forecast: the chance for a little bit of snow across the Hill Country on Saturday morning.
With the chilly temperatures, we'll be keeping a close eye on the potential for any precipitation. Both Saturday and Sunday could have isolated light showers around, but as of now, this should be mainly rainfall.
Early Saturday morning, Gillespie and Blanco counties could see light accumulations of snow on grassy and elevated surfaces. However, roadways are not expected to see impacts.
This is a forecast we'll need to continue to watch very closely.
