TEXAS, USA — A warming trend continues here in Central Texas as we kick off the month of December. Afternoon highs through the weekend will be about 10 to 15 degrees above the average for this time of the year.

Austin reached a high of 81 degrees on Thursday afternoon, and highs will remain near 80 degrees through Sunday afternoon. As temperatures continue to increase, so does our humidity. This means each morning through the weekend will feature some fog and low clouds during the morning hours.

A weak disturbance on Friday produced a few isolated showers Friday morning. We'll hold onto a slight isolated shower chance through early afternoon, but other than that, we continue with mainly dry weather through Sunday.

A weak cold front will stall just to our northwest on Saturday. This means we stay in the same humid and warm weather pattern through the weekend. Expect mainly dry weather for both Saturday and Sunday with afternoon highs remaining near 80.

A stronger front then swings through Central Texas Sunday night into Monday morning. This front could bring a few isolated showers and storms on Monday morning but, at this point, looks like it will struggle to bring much rain. Highs behind the front will briefly drop back to the 60s by Monday afternoon.

There is higher than usual uncertainty with regards to the forecast for the middle of next week. Long-range models are now showing the potential for some rain late Tuesday and Wednesday as another front approaches the area. We'll be sure to keep an eye on the extended forecast and will have more as we fine tune the details over the next few days.

The KVUE Storm Team will continue to monitor this developing forecast.

In the meantime, the extended forecast can be found below:
