Merry Christmas! Temperatures this morning are in the low to mid-40s with scattered clouds and patchy dense fog.
For this afternoon, expect partly cloudy skies and mild conditions. Highs will be in the upper 60s and low 70s.
Areas of dense fog will develop late tonight and into Thursday morning. Visibility could be less than a half a mile.
The average high for Dec. 25 in Austin is 61 degrees. The hottest Christmas on record was in 1955 when the temperature topped out at 90 degrees. This is also the hottest temperatures recorded in the entire month of December for Austin.
The coldest temperature for Christmas occurred in 1983, when Christmas morning started off at 10 degrees and only warmed to 25 degrees in the afternoon.
The wettest Christmas was recorded 19 years ago, with an inch and a half of rainfall. Sadly, we've never had measurable snowfall on Dec. 25 in Austin.
