Wind and warmth boost fire weather concerns Wednesday

A Red Flag Warning has been issued for Wednesday due to high wind, low humidity and heat.

A cold front passing over Central Texas tonight will not have the region worried about cold temperatures.

On the contrary, temperatures will stay near-above average for the rest of the week. However, the front is expected to bring changes weather-wise. The most significant impacts will include high wind gusts and warm temperatures.

For this reason, the National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning today across Llano, Gillespie, and Blanco counties. Gusty winds and dry air across the Edwards Plateau will create optimal conditions for wildfires.

Through the afternoon of Wednesday, you can expect gusts to gradually lighten. Here is a look at max wind gusts as of 1 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
