AUSTIN, Texas — The weekend is upon us and, as always, there are a ton of things going on in the Austin area! From a baseball series to Shrekfest (yes, you read that right), there's no shortage of fun activities happening over the next few days.
Here’s a breakdown of just some of the events you can attend this weekend.
Round Rock Express vs. Reno Aces
For the first time in weeks, we have no weekend rain chances – and what better way to enjoy that than a night (or nights) at the ballpark? This weekend, Round Rock Express will play a series against the Reno Aces.
Promotions for this series include Thirsty Thursday; a Chupacabras de Round Rock jersey giveaway and fireworks on Friday; photo ops with Bluey and his sister, Bingo, on Saturday; and free inflatables and train rides for kids on Sunday.
When: First pitches are Thursday at 7:05 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 7:15 p.m. and Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
Where: Dell Diamond, located at 3400 E. Palm Valley Blvd. in Round Rock
This weekend is the Kyle Fair A Tex-Travaganza, a 3-day, family-friendly fair featuring live music, carnival rides, games, food and more. The fair will also include another Gathering of the Kyles – an attempt to break the world record for the most people with the same first name gathered in one place at one time.
When: through Sunday. The Gathering of the Kyles will be Saturday at 1 p.m.
Where: Lake Kyle Park, located at 700 Lehman Road
Celebrate Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month this weekend with AAPI Market Day at the TownLake YMCA! The event will highlight Asian-owned businesses and entrepreneurs, with vendors offering food, crafts, services and more.
When: Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon
Where: TownLake YMCA, located at 1100 W. Cesar Chavez St.
If you're looking for something a little weirder to do this weekend, Shrekfest 2024 will also be held at Swan Dive on Saturday. In addition to The Eddie Murphy Experience performing the entirety of the "Shrek" and "Shrek 2" soundtracks, there will be a costume contest with a "Shrek" Ultimate DVD Collection prize and an onion eating contest with a prize from AlyCakesATX.
When: Doors at 9 p.m. Saturday
