ROUND ROCK, Texas — A familiar face and voice at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock is none other than Connor Mason.
Mason, 25, works in the "Fun Zone" in centerfield. But during home games, he also does box score announcing on the radio.
So if you're in the ballpark, you can hear him throughout the stadium. You can also hear him announcing games on AM 1300 The Zone.
"I'm telling them what the score is of other games that are going on while the Express are playing. I love being able to share my gift with people in the community, especially here, and everyone accepts me the way I am," Mason said.
Mason has cerebral palsy and said the Round Rock Express has become like a second family to him.
He said his love of baseball started when he was just a child, and he'd like to do more radio broadcasting in the future.
The Round Rock Express will play its first home game of the 2024 season starting at 7:15 p.m. Friday, against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys. Visit here to purchase tickets and/or to learn more.
