AUSTIN, Texas — Every child that enters into Texas foster care comes from a different background with a different story. Some are in their teens, while others are very young.
Bradly is five years old and currently lives in a foster home. He is nonverbal with autism but he finds different ways to communicate and connect.
"When he first meets someone he will sometimes reach out his pointer finger," said Bradly's Caseworker, Camille Haberman.
KVUE's Hannah Rucker met up with Bradly at the Texas Humane Heroes in Leander, Texas. They have a wide range of dogs, puppies, cats and kittens on site. The employees are friendly and work to make sure every visitor finds their perfect match. They were founded in 1979 and are 100% by donations.
Bradly loves animals. Whenever he sees a dog he makes a woof sound and when he sees a cat he makes meow sounds. His caseworker says he also has babies that live in his foster home with him.
"He loves little ones. He's in a foster home with some babies and he's very sweet and gentle with them. He will share his toys even with an infant. He just has a sweet gentle nature. He's a pretty easy kid," said
He also likes cooking for people in his plastic kitchen and trying new foods.
Editor's note: The children who are in the Heart Gallery program and featured in KVUE's Forever Families segments are children who have had every effort made on their behalf to connect them with family or others in their community to provide options for permanent, adoptive homes. Through no fault of their own, that hasn’t happened yet, and so in partnership with the Department of Family and Protective Services, we collaborate to bring awareness to KVUE viewers about these children in the hopes of finding them permanency before they age out.
