AUSTIN, Texas — KVUE wants to help “Keep Austin Local” by highlighting the local businesses, events and people that make Austin special.
On Wednesday, KVUE stopped by Lake Travis Padel, a family-owned business committed to growing the sport of padel.
Padel is a combination of tennis, squash and racquetball played by four people on a court in teams of two. Its popularity is growing because it's a social sport and easy to learn.
Lake Travis Padel is Austin's first outdoor, 15-acre padel site. It does not have a membership and it's not a club. It wants the sport of padel to grow, so its courts are open for those who want to try the sport. The courts are $60 per 90 minutes. People can also purchase a Padel Play Pack, which is 10 punches for $100.
Lake Travis Padel also hosts events, including Tuesday night women's padel, Wednesday night men's padel, and Thursday night co-ed padel. It offers open play on Saturdays at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., where people have the opportunity to meet many other players and play against, and with, different levels. All events are one punch or $15 per person.
It also offers lessons for $80 per hour and a summer camp designed for kids 7 years old to 13 years old.
You can find Lake Travis Padel at 4900 Canyon Ranch Trail, Spicewood, Texas 78669, online here, or you can text or call 512-987-9018.
