GEORGETOWN, Texas — H-E-B will hold a groundbreaking Wednesday morning for its new location in Georgetown's Wolf Lakes Village development.
The 117,000-square-foot flagship store is expected to open in spring 2023. It will be located at 1010 West University Ave., across the street from the current H-E-B on East University Avenue. The new store will be the twice the size of the current one.
According to a report from Community Impact, the new store will include a car wash, a fuel station and a barbecue restaurant. Donald McLachlan, one of the proprietors of the Wolf Lakes Village development, told Community Impact that construction on the store started in April.
Community Impact reports that McLachlan and his wife shared a presentation to local developers on April 11 that provided construction updates regarding the 164-acre mixed-use Wolf Lakes Village tax increment investment zone (TIRZ). First, Seton Medical is expected to transform 12 acres into a multistory medical office and surgical center starting in June.
The City of Georgetown and Williamson County unanimously approved a $130 million TIRZ for the development in 2018. According to Community Impact, the City’s portion of the TIRZ is $100 million over 30 years and the County’s portion is $30 million over 20 years.
H-E-B's groundbreaking event will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m.
