HUTTO, Texas — From finding the perfect number of bedrooms to searching for the ideal backyard, purchasing a home is often a daunting process.

For first-time buyers, the stress of this experience can be amplified.

But according to an article from the Austin Business Journal, based on an analysis from Realtor.com, Hutto has been named the best Austin-area market for beginner buyers.

On average, Austin homes are priced on the market at $450,000, compared to $387,000 in Hutto.

Price wasn't the only factor when making this decision, though. The study compiled statistics on average listing prices, inventory, projected growth, job commute and unemployment rates from December 2022 through 2024.

On a national level, the median U.S. home is priced at $382,000, while first-time houses are marked at an average of $223,700.

In order for first-time buyers to be able to afford housing, the recommended yearly income should be between $62,000 to $69,000.

A typical Hutto house stayed on the market for 67 days before being sold in December 2023, compared to 74 days in December 2022 but just 22 days in December 2021.

Despite changes over the years, Realtor.com still categorizes Hutto as a balanced market for supply and demand, with average residences priced at $195 per square foot.

In recent months, Hutto has seen consistent commercial success, including plans from Tesla to renovate a 35,000-square-foot building in the area and a citywide initiative to redesign Fritz Park
