Round Rock City Council greenlights mixed-use project The District

The district will be located on Greenlawn Boulevard, not far from SH 45 and I -35.

ROUND ROCK, Texas — On Thursday, the Round Rock City Council approved a planned unit development for a 65.5-acre project dubbed The District, according to KVUE's news partners at the Austin American-Statesman.

The project will sit along Greenlawn Boulevard, not far from State High 45 and Interstate 35. It will include restaurants, shops, apartments, office space and more. According to the Statesman, it will also feature hotels and a grocery store, and it will even create around 5,000 jobs once it's fully developed.

The report states that Round Rock's planning and development services director, Brad Wiseman, said plans at The District will also include streets designed to heighten driver awareness of pedestrians and enhanced detention areas, plazas and courtyards.

"It's reflective of the market and I think Round Rock will continue to see projects such as this due to the demand," Wiseman told the Statesman. "We want it to be pedestrian-friendly and easy to get from point A to point B."
