AUSTIN, Texas — One lucky Austinite is $1 million richer after they claimed a Powerball prize.

Texas Lottery announced Tuesday that an Austin resident claimed a Powerball prize worth $1 million for the drawing on March 23. The person, who elected to remain anonymous, purchased the winning ticket at the 7-Eleven located at 9704 Giles Lane in southeast Austin.

Texas Lottery said the winning Quick Pick ticket matched all five of the white ball numbers drawn, but not the red Powerball number.

The Powerball grand prizes currently start at $20 million and roll until the jackpot is won. To win the grand prize, players must match five numbers from a field of 69 numbers and one Powerball number from a field of 26 numbers.

Players can multiply their non-grand prize winnings by choosing Power Play. A Power Play Match Five prize is set at $2 million regardless of the Power Play number selected, while all other non-grand prizes are multiplied by the Power Play number selected.

Drawings are broadcast every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:12 p.m. CT.

Since 1997, Texas Lottery has contributed more than $33 billion to the Foundation School Fund supporting public education in Texas. Certain Texas Lottery revenues also benefit state programs, including the Fund for Veterans' Assistance.
