AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department (APD) on Wednesday released new video showing a person of interest in a June 21 homicide in southeast Austin.
APD said officers responded to a call on Metcalfe Road, off Interstate 35, around 4 p.m. that day. When they arrived, they found a woman dead inside an abandoned house.
At the time, APD said it was investigating the incident as a "suspicious death," but the department now says detectives believe the woman – identified as 35-year-old Alyssa Rivera – was killed at the house by an unknown person.
Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists processed the scene and interviewed witnesses, but no arrests have been made.
If you have any information, you are asked to call police at 512-974-8477 or submit a tip to Capital Area Crime Stoppers online or by calling 512-472-8477. A reward up to $1,000 may be available for information that leads to an arrest.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help Rivera's family following her death.
