Police release video of person of interest in southeast Austin homicide

Police believe 35-year-old Alyssa Rivera was killed at an abandoned house by an unknown person.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department (APD) on Wednesday released new video showing a person of interest in a June 21 homicide in southeast Austin.

APD said officers responded to a call on Metcalfe Road, off Interstate 35, around 4 p.m. that day. When they arrived, they found a woman dead inside an abandoned house.

At the time, APD said it was investigating the incident as a "suspicious death," but the department now says detectives believe the woman – identified as 35-year-old Alyssa Rivera – was killed at the house by an unknown person.

Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists processed the scene and interviewed witnesses, but no arrests have been made.
