AUSTIN, Texas — Police have identified a body found with obvious signs of trauma in northeast Austin.
According to police, 23-year-old Shelby Wayne Cody was shot to death on Thursday, Nov. 7, near U.S. 290 and Calidad Drive.
During their investigation, police learned Cody's body was found with gunshot wounds before he was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
In an update Tuesday, police said Cody was in the area for an appointment when he was shot and killed by someone who then left the area.
Police still have not released any details on a possible suspect or what led up to the shooting after interviewing witnesses. Anyone with information on the shooting should contact police at 512-974-TIPS or Capital Area Crime Stoppers. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information that leads to an arrest.
Meanwhile, police are investigating Cody's death as Austin's 57th homicide of 2024.
